B.C. NDP Prefers Autocratic Governance | Adam Pankratz

The first volley in this anti-democratic crusade was the NDP attempt to change the Land Act back in early 2024. Though they also backed down following intense media and public backlash, the precedent was being set. David Eby’s government was prepared to make substantial changes to the Act, which governs all public land in British Columbia, without a well-publicized and in-depth consultation with the very public which would be affected by the changes. These changes would have given “legal effect” to decision-making powers of First Nations over Crown land. This is a significant and fundamental shift in how the province would be managed and run, and yet the NDP tried to sneak it past British Columbians under the radar, minimizing its true impact at every opportunity until they were caught.
